Vcom Partners with the Barbados Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council

On June 29, 2024, the "China-Barbados TEVT Standards and Curriculum Co-development Seminar" was successfully held at Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, co-hosted by Vcom International Ltd. The event aimed to deepen the collaboration between China and Barbados in vocational education, promoting professional co-construction and resource sharing between vocational institutions of both countries.

 


Key figures in attendance included Henderson Eastmond, Director of the Barbados Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, and Dario Walcott, Technical Director of the Barbados WorldSkills Executive Bureau. Chinese participants included leaders and experts from Jiangsu, Hunan, and Guangdong province's vocational institutions.

 

The Vice President of Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, Xu Zhiliang, warmly welcomed the Barbados delegation, highlighting the institution's achievements and innovative approaches in vocational education, such as developing curricula for the digital economy, collaborating with industry leaders, and enhancing students' practical skills through competitions and certifications.

 


Representatives from Barbados vocational institutions, including Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology, Barbados Community College, and the Barbados Vocational Training Board, presented their unique educational models and cooperation strategies, showcasing the potential for extensive collaboration.

 

A significant highlight was the launch of the Barbados branch of the Global Training Center. This new branch aims to support international cooperation in vocational education, offering advanced technology training, skill certification, and cross-border projects online and offline.

 


During the signing ceremony, multiple cooperation agreements were signed between Chinese and Barbadian institutions and enterprises. Notable participants included Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, Barbados TVET Council, Barbados Community College, and Vcom International Ltd. These agreements mark a new chapter in China-Barbados vocational education cooperation, fostering professional development and resource sharing.

 

The symposium and the establishment of the Global Training Center's Barbados branch underscore a significant step towards enhancing international vocational education collaboration, contributing to the development of high-quality digital economy talent, and strengthening China-Barbados educational ties.
